How Did I Come Across ClickFunnels?

As an online marketing professional, I am always on the lookout for the best e-commerce tools that can help me grow my online business, such as marketing funnels, landing pages, and website builders.

After having tried a couple of tools for building sales funnels, I wanted something a bit more comprehensive, yet easy to use.

That’s when I come across ClickFunnels.

If you just run a quick Google search with the keyword, “sales funnel builder,” ClickFunnels is up there on the first page of the SERPs.

Their SEO game is impressive for sure.

I checked out their website and saw that they’ve got a lot of interesting features to help with building a landing page, marketing funnels, and more for small businesses, startups, and other content marketing companies.

On the surface, it looks like it’s a combination of a website builder and sales funnel builder with some landing page assistance as well.

Plus, ClickFunnels also has a massive user base.

Check out the screenshot below from the homepage of ClickFunnels to get an idea about their popularity:

Those are some impressive numbers, right?

Naturally, I wanted to see if the tool lives up to the hype. Before I signed up for ClickFunnels’ free trial, I only knew three things about the tool.

I knew that ClickFunnels can help me with the following:

  • Generate leads
  • Sell products
  • Reconnect with my audience

Basically, I went in with a clean slate. I’ve realized that trying out a software solution without any background info is actually the best. That way, you go in without any preconceived notions.

Because of that, it helped me write a more objective ClickFunnels review.

Detailed Review: How to Build Funnels With ClickFunnels

In this section of the ClickFunnels review, let’s take a look at what it takes to build a funnel with ClickFunnels. The platform provides options to build all the sales funnel components.

To begin with, I’ll try to create a classic funnel that’s not too complicated. But I do want to see what kind of customization options ClickFunnels offers.

ClickFunnels also has a Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook, which we’ll check out after that in this review section.

Building a Classic Funnel With ClickFunnels

Let’s create our own funnel on ClickFunnels.

I’ll give you a step-by-step breakdown of all the steps included along with the screenshots. This way, you can get a better idea of their user interface.

Step 1: The ClickFunnels dashboard prominently displays the “Build a Funnel” option. That’s what we want to start off with.

clickfunnels-1

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 2: Next, I see an option to choose my goals. The three featured goals include:

  • Collect Emails: To get email leads and build engaging email lists
  • Sell Your Product: To sell products and services
  • Host Webinar: To host live or automated webinars

I’m opting for the first option.

For this ClickFunnels review, I’ll create a funnel to build an email list.

clickfunnels-2

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 3: Let’s call this one “Funnel A.”

The next option also allows me to add any Group Tags if I have any similar funnels that I want to group it with. They are great for organizing the dashboard and making your funnels more systematic.

Since I don’t already have any created group tags on ClickFunnels, I’m going to leave that option blank.

On the right, there is an explainer video too to explain the funnel creation process clearly.

That’s about it.

To move on to the funnel-building process, I clicked on “Build Funnel.”

clickfunnels-3

Step 4: This is where the fun begins.

As can be seen in the screenshot below, the left sidebar has two main categories: Optin and Thank You.

(Do you want to try Clickfunnels for yourself? Here’s your free trial link.)

clickfunnels-4

Image Via ClickFunnels

I’ve chosen to go ahead with the “Optin” option. On the right, you can see all the templates displayed together. There are loads of different options with some really eye-catching designs.

Step 5: I like the “Dark Optin Box” template. It’s bold, yet neat. While the basic design is great, I want to make a few changes to it.

clickfunnels-5

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 6: To customize the template, I go to the “Edit Page” option. Let’s see how many customization options are available in ClickFunnels.

clickfunnels-6

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 7: Changing the headings or subheadings is easy. I just clicked on the box surrounding each headline and got the text box for editing.

Pretty self-explanatory.

Step 8: To change the text color, font, size, or background color, there are multiple options in ClickFunnels. I found these under the Settings icon (⚙️) for each box.

It also has options to move your text, edit mobile size, and do a lot more. Pretty impressive. As you see in the screenshot, I changed the color of my heading.

clickfunnels-8

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 9: What if I want to add a unique element to this design? For that, I can choose the “Elements” option from the top bar.

From text and image popups to videos, countdown timers, and icons, there is a lot I can add.

clickfunnels-9

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 10:  I can also add entire sections to this design. As you can see in the screenshot, there is an option for “Add Section” at the bottom. I’ll try adding one to my template.

clickfunnels-10

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 11: There, I get to choose the kind of layout I want. I am choosing the “Medium” option so that the new section will fit in with the current design.

There are plenty of other options in the Actions menu as well.

Step 12: As you can see in the screenshot below, there is a row added at the bottom. It also has options to change the settings or to add new columns or sidebars.

clickfunnels-12

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 13: I want to add 2 columns to my design.

clickfunnels-13

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 14: As you can see in the image below, two columns are added to the bottom of the given design. Furthermore, ClickFunnels allows me to add elements to it too.

Let’s add two buttons — Social Share and Privacy Notice — to the columns that I’ve added.

clickfunnels-14

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 15: Once these elements are placed, you can align them to fit with your overall design.

clickfunnels-15

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 16: I am happy with the design but there is still some more work to be done on the SEO side. From the “Settings” option in the top bar, I choose the “SEO Meta Data” option.

This opens up a dialog box in which you can enter the title, description, keywords, social image, and more. You can see a preview of how all of that information will be displayed on SERPs.

clickfunnels-16

Wasn’t that easy?

Of course, you can experiment a lot more when you are creating your own funnel with this platform. I stuck to the basics for this review just to give you a brief overview of funnel building.

Next, let’s check out the Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook.

Building a Funnel on ClickFunnels With the Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook

Want a simpler way to build sales funnels with ClickFunnels? ClickFunnels comes with a Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook for that.

Let’s review this method for building a funnel.

Step 1: Click on “Build Funnel” from the ClickFunnels platform and then close the Classic Funnel Builder dialog box that opens up.

Step 2: In the left corner, you’ll see the option to choose the industry that your business functions in. From the given options, I’ll go ahead with “Author/Speaker/Coach/Consultant.”

Based of the option you choose, your template options on the right will change. It’s a great way to narrow down your choices.

build funnel-2

Step 3: Just below the option for “Industry,” you can check out the options provided for selecting “Type of Funnel.” Let’s say, I’d like to build a funnel to generate more leads.

Step 4: There is also a third category to select your goal. I’ve chosen “I Want Their Contact Info” here. Based on all my choices, I can see all the templates on the right that are relevant for me.

Step 5: I’ve got 5 choices here. For each of the funnels, I like that they’ve included a short description so I know what to expect. I’m picking the “Application Funnel” here.

Step 6: In the next window, there is a detailed video explaining how the “Application Funnel” option works. For any of the funnels that you choose from the Cookbook, you’ll see a similar explainer video.

On the right-hand side, there is also another option to view the funnel map. Let’s see what the funnel map for Application Funnel looks like.

Step 7: When you click on the Funnel Map option, a new window opens up which explains all the components of this funnel. I think it’s pretty neat and well-explained.

build funnel-7

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 8: Let’s get back to the platform. When you scroll down, you can see free and paid templates displayed. You can customize all of the free templates with your branding.

If you need any help with the paid templates, you need to contact the person who has posted the template for sale.

For this ClickFunnels review, I’ll keep things basic. I’ve just chosen the first option given. It’s free.

build funnel-8

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 9: When I clicked on it, it opened another window that showed all the pages of the funnel. Once you are sure you like the funnel you’ve chosen, you can go ahead and download it.

For that, just click on the “Get Funnel” option on the right corner of the window.

That’s it.

With the Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook, it’s really easy to create a funnel. You don’t need to spend any time designing it or planning the elements.

All of it is ready — you just need to customize it based on your requirements.

Creating a New Follow-Up Funnel With ClickFunnels

What happens to customers who have made a purchase?

To reconnect with them, you can use the Follow-Up Funnel feature in ClickFunnels. This feature is available in the free trial. After the period ends, you’ll have to upgrade to their Platinum plan to access it.

Using this feature, you can send highly targeted messages via text, email, desktop notifications, and more. No matter what your customers are doing, you can reach out to them via multi-channel marketing.

You can use follow-up sequences to keep in touch with contacts who are a part of your email list. It’s a very useful feature, and I can’t wait to try out and review this ClickFunnels’ feature.

But to use this ClickFunnels’ feature, you need the following in place:

  • ClickFunnels Platinum
  • An Email List or Smart Email List
  • SMTP Integration

I don’t have an email list yet, so I won’t be able to build an entire Follow-Up Funnel on ClickFunnels. But I can check how to go about it to give you a better idea of what you need to do.

Here is what you can do to set up a follow-up funnel in ClickFunnels.

Step 1: Go to the ClickFunnels’ dashboard and choose “Build a Follow-Up Funnel.”

follow-up funnel-1

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 2: In the next section, I can see options to name my Follow-Up Funnel and add a group tag. Towards the end, you can also select who will receive the Follow-Up Funnel.

It’s important to note that by default, only the contacts who are newly added to the selected list receive the Follow-Up Funnel. If you want all contacts to receive the Funnel, you can select the last option on the page.

follow-up funnel-2

Image Via ClickFunnels

Step 3: The last option has a drop-down menu where you can select any email list or even add multiple lists that you want to include in your Follow-Up Funnel.

Once you have added all the required details, you can click on “Create Follow-Up Funnel.”

Try out ClickFunnels for free now. Click here to get your free trial.

follow-up funnel-3

Step 4: Once your Follow-Up Funnel is created, you can add more steps to it. Check out the options in the screenshot below.

Step 5: When you scroll down, you can see a list of third-party apps that you can also select. From Drip to Facebook and Kajabi, there are a lot of choices.

If you need any help, you can click on the Help button on the lower right section of the screen. It’s a quick way to get solutions to any queries that you may have.

If you’ve got the budget for their Platinum plan, I’d say this feature can be really helpful for getting more leads.

Multi-channel marketing and retargeting are very effective strategies, and that’s exactly what this option helps you leverage.

ClickFunnels Review: Case Studies

You’ve read my ClickFunnels review and what others have to say about it. But what about the results?

In this review section, let’s take a look at some case studies. It’ll help us understand how ClickFunnels is impacting businesses.

Case Study #1: A Gym Owners’ Experience With ClickFunnels

When Alex Hormozi opened his gym, United Fitness, almost six years ago, he had no idea about how the gym industry functions. He was based in Huntington Beach, California, a place that is bustling with gyms. Because there is so much competition, it’s tough to stand out in such a crowded market.

He was naive, and he expected people to just walk into his door and sign up for a membership. But he learned the hard way that that’s not how any business can get customers. Even when people did have his address, no one could find the location of his gym.

A friend told him to build a website to drive brand awareness. Even after the website was live, nothing really changed. He wasn’t getting customers. At a marketing conference, he found out about ClickFunnels and decided to sign up for the free trial.

Despite not being tech-savvy, he had his lead forms live in about 4 hours. He was able to collect email addresses from anyone who came to his website.

After he started using funnels, he was able to fill his gym in just 30 days.

Along with lead generation, his funnel also had pages to showcase offers that could attract new customers. In a video, Alex credits this funnel for filling up his gym.

After his gym was full, he opened another gym to keep up with the demand and again used ClickFunnels for building a sales funnel.

On the first day, his new gym opened at full capacity.

The saga continued — he opened another gym after that which also opened at full capacity.

From his experience, Alex believes that ClickFunnels works really well in any market that may have too much competition.

Case Study #2: How a Blogger Leveraged ClickFunnels to Sell E-Books

Natalie Hodson took an interest in fitness after her pregnancy. She created a website to talk about her fitness journey and she saw that Pinterest was getting her a good amount of traffic — almost 30,000 visits per month.

With the traffic boost, she was encouraged to look for a way to earn some money from it. She got certified as a personal trainer and decided to start writing ebooks.

Eventually, she turned to ClickFunnels to promote her ebooks. Currently, she has a number of ebooks on exercising, healthy eating, pregnancy fitness, and more.

In the first week, her ebook on Abs, Core, and Pelvic Floor sold $20,000 worth of copies.

That was just the beginning.

She revealed that there was a day when they sold $20,000 worth of copies in just one day!

After four months, she sold over a million dollar worth of her ebooks with ClickFunnels.

Case Study #3: How a Painting Company Increased Their Revenue

Yanni Fikaris runs a painting company and is the Managing Principal at Custom Renovations. He wanted to market his services in certain towns only.

Before he learned about ClickFunnels, he had only leveraged the mailers, postcards, and print advertising to promote his services.

He was frustrated because everyone told him he could only make enough money to cover the advertising expenses. That didn’t make any sense to him.

After shifting to ClickFunnels, his advertising costs have decreased considerably. From spending $10,000 dollars a month, his costs have gone down to $500.

That’s a huge jump.

Plus, they are making a lot more money than what they were making before. He didn’t want to reveal the actual figures, but he said there was a considerable rise.

He says that it’s a blessing to be able to select your industry, client, and decide what kind of advertisements you want them to see to sell which product.

It gives you complete control.

Before ClickFunnels, he tried Google AdWords to redirect people to his website. But it was more like a digital portfolio which wasn’t yielding good results.

He says that it’s like a system that you can set once.

After that, you can forget it while it’s still on.

According to him, ClickFunnels works best for those businesses that are in a super niche market. While they offer house painting services, their niche service is cabinetry. That worked in their favor to attract more customers with ClickFunnels.

ClickFunnels Review: What’s The Final Verdict?

ClickFunnels has a lot to offer to any entrepreneur who wants to generate more leads and boost their conversion rate. What I really like about the tool is that they give you templates based on your industry and marketing goals.

I think that makes a lot of sense.

A template for webinar promotion may have visual elements while one for getting email addresses may not require any. Narrowing your choices based on your goals and industries is a quick way of getting exactly what you need.

Plus, you can easily build follow-up funnels as well to reach out to your leads. It’s an all-in-one platform that does what it promises.

If you want to build powerful funnels quickly, ClickFunnels should be on your radar. It’s high on usability and can save you a ton of time and effort.

What’s the final verdict, you ask?

Definitely give it a try!
