Keep in mind that although the phrase may have appeared in links, these don’t count when you’re indicating relevance for this page. Links indicate the relevance of the page they link to, not the page they’re on. So use the phrase in the body text here and in links there!

- Reach out to influencers and companies you mention in your updated blog posts – Let them know there has been an update, especially if they are mentioned. Outreach Plus is a great tool for this. It has many features that will allow you to get more leads, backlinks and press mentions, but this is a good place to start.
Even if you don’t get to do all of these steps, just one or two will make a huge difference to your blog’s SEO performance!

Perhaps the best and easiest place to start is with site content. A larger volume of content increases the likelihood that the site will be the best answer to a search query as a quality result. The large amount of content provided also leads to more linkable content, which will, in turn, increase the number of backlinks the site receives. This will also help to boost SEO ranking.
Search engines also return featured content at the top of a results list to provide the best answer to a user’s search when they type in an actual question. Increasing the site ranking to be included in this feature content can provide another large boost to site traffic. Begin this process by identifying what the main questions a user of your site would be asking, as in “How do I….” or “Why does…”, and then tailor the content to focus on quickly answering those questions.

In addition to containing the exact keyword you want to rank for, be sure to include plenty of LSI keywords (related keywords) throughout the content.

So my tips to businesses that provide a physical service to their customers is to think about how you can make use of all these new opportunities that Google is giving you to get in front of customers and impress them. Most of there are Free so why not?!
1. Ensure that your GoogleMyBusiness profile is well optimised and that you’re linking to the best page on your site that reinforces what you offer & where you’re located.
2. Write Google Posts (just 300 words) to provide users more info about your services & any deals you have
3. Generate more reviews on your Google My Business profile (boosts ranking & conversion). And reply to all your reviews too!
4. Monitor Google Q&A and answer any questions that are posted there.
5. Get yourself registered with Local Service Ads if you’re in an industry & location where Google has rolled this out to.
6. Find out what questions people are asking about your type of service. Then create detailed and unique content to answer these questions. This is helpful to any visitors to your site and it gives you a chance to start appearing Google Answer Boxes and ultimately boost your seo efforts.

Podcast/interview link building – much like expert roundups, participating in podcasts or interviews earns us backlinks, so we accept invitations or prospect for bloggers (in relevant niches, of course) looking for interviewees to feature on their channels.
Resource page link building – We prospect for bloggers who’ve created any relevant, massive resource pages and ask to be included.

Mobile-first is the latest iteration, which means that responsive websites are now the minimum barrier to entry. Brands need to think about how consumers interact with mobile devices differently and adapt to behaviors, not just via websites, but also apps – to ensure they capture the full mobile experience.
3. Voice search – 2017 has been a big learning curve for voice search, and seen a land-grab for the devices, of which Amazon’s Alexa is significantly winning to-date. In 2018, a continued growth in popularity of voice searches is likely, and brands need to be thinking about how people could be using voice queries within their niche, and how they can offer value to become the best result.
My advice: Think about your users first and foremost. Who are you targeting? What do you want them to achieve? To win at SEO in 2018, you need to be the best result. This means providing great content for your users, across all devices – rather than simply having well optimised content for search engines. Most importantly, you’ll be engaging in the best way possible with your visitors. And as a by-product of this, you’ll likely be rewarded by Google for providing the best experience.

SEO is getting more and more complicated when we talk about its technicalities.
There are a lot of things that you need to align to get the highest rankings.
The two significant signals are LINKS and CONTENT.
I will share a tip that we use on any page or blog post that we publish here at cognitiveSEO.
We improve the content on the page (from an SEO perspective) by measuring the Content Performance Metric provided by the cognitiveSEO Content Assistant tool. This metric allows us to measure how well a page would do for a specific keyword or set of keywords.

I break SEO into 4 general buckets that need to be executed well:
1. Technical SEO – Make sure your website is built properly according to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines, runs fast and accommodates mobile visitors.
2. Keywords / On Page + UX – Make sure your website is targeting the RIGHT keywords for your business. It sounds basic, but it’s a cornerstone of SEO. Optimize your pages are the unique value your business provides (within the scope of those keywords). Make sure your pages provide all of the information a searcher needs to find your page, engage with it and take action. That means you should focus on good front end design as well.
3. Content – Make sure your website has supporting content that can be shared on social media, rank in search engines and provide more context for what you do. You don’t need a TON of content, but your website should meet industry standards (find out what the top dogs are doing).
4. Promotion – Go out and push your website across all corners of the web. Find and pitch bloggers to include links to your content within theirs. Get writing gigs as a guest author on industry blogs, mention your website within those articles. Get active on Reddit, Quora and industry forums. Tell the world about your website.

One of the most effective SEO tips I find for driving traffic to a website is through outreach. It’s a tedious task, but the results are worth it.
While there are many ways to go about outreach, one of the most effective ways is to find existing sites already linking to similar content. The premise is that you have a much better piece of content that should be linked to instead of the one they are using.
The key is to be personal with the email and not a generic/templated approach. While you can use a template to build the framework of the email, it’s best to add some sort of personalization about the page you are referring to on their website (something you liked about their post, a quote, etc).
Basically, show them that you actually read it.
This will go a long way in getting them to swap out someone else’s link for yours.

One of the best tips to increase your ranking is to create a solid piece of SEO-friendly content and leverage influencers to help you get that content in front of more eyes. Here’s what this looks like:
Create awesome content that’s valuable to your audience and get other influencers involved. Quote them, link to their resources, use their knowledge in your posts and then reach out to them. Let them know how helpful their info and resources are, that you utilized them for your latest blog post, etc and ask if they would be willing to share.
Social shares DO in fact impact rankings and by leveraging influencers who have larger social audiences, you will not only be attracting more people to your blog, but you will be increasing your chances of ranking for your keyword. In addition, sometimes you can get the influencer to include a link back to your website, from their site.
To increase your chances of this happening make sure the content is exceptional and speaks highly of the influencer. Of course, adding things like social bookmarks and contextual links from other relevant websites will help as well.

Google and the entire search landscape have changed a lot over the years. A lot of SEO tactics or tips that used to work wonders are no longer effective today.
The only thing that has not changed, so far, is the impact of link to search rankings. If you want good rankings at Google, you need to build good natural links consistently. This means building valuable content that people want to link to; and regularly reach out to others in your industry for linking opportunities – be it guest posting, or interview opportunities, or roundup post like this one.

Landing pages must contain helpful information relevant to your business, have long-tail keywords, contain links to your web pages, very persuasive, and must contain around 2000 words.
Having an SEO friendly optimized landing page that is presented well makes it more successful in generating revenue.
Focus on Content Quality – Content is what drives websites and generate traffic, which is why creating well-written and well-researched content matters the most. The best kind of content are the ones that are relevant, timeless, and highly informative, as that gives them staying power that would get them searched for a significant amount of time.

See which of those competitors has the best content and model your page after that. Once you have something that can compete, go to work making it better than any other piece of content available on that topic.
From there, all you have to do is promote your page and Google will eventually see it as more authoritative than other similar pieces of content on the web. Of course you have to be targeting some higher volume keyword phrases. As always, don’t sacrifice traffic for conversions.
High Quality Links
The clients that tend to have the attractive traffic volumes are those with more high-quality and authoritative links. Earning as many editorial-based and .edu links will help make a site very authoritative.
That combined with industry leading content and the page will be beating out other competitors in search. It’s worth noting that any of these strategies alone aren’t going to be as strong as combining them with other SEO tactics. A holistic approach is what will get you larger traffic volumes as well as conversions.

Search engine optimization can feel like a fog of information and best practices. Keep things simple by thinking about SEO at the page-level and letting the developers manage and improve site-wide performance opportunities. But keep them accountable to earning perfect PageSpeed and WebpageTest.org scores.
An effective and easy tips to follow to improve keyword ranking at the page level starts with understanding competitor insights. Enter the top 20 competing URLs into ahrefs.com and semrush.com to explore keywords and links that top-ranking webpages are using to rank their content. Look at your AdWords and AdCenter “search term” data to see what converts. Look at your top performing “placement URLs” for link building and native advertising opportunities.
Next, really put the competing pages under the microscope. Use Excel and record the top-ranked pages’ titles, meta descriptions, h1/headings, subheadings, images, image names, video, structured markup used, page load times, mobile-friendliness, mobile user experience, page name/URL, and words used in content. Start drafting an outline that incorporates the best and “MOST HELPFUL” focal points from all the competing pages.
Finally, listen in on sales calls, survey clients, run user testing services (such as Hotjar, Kissmetrics, etc), to capture what it is your customers are really looking for, what their end desire really is (not just the pill, but how the ailment itself), and create the best and most helpful page of anything else online.
Watch the data, scrutinize everything, re-calibrate constantly with a quarterly goal of improving CTR, conversion rate, bounce rate, and page load time by a conservative .5% per quarter. It will all pay off in the long run, that’s the essence of “organic” SEO after all.

Sure, keywords and links still matter. But, ultimately, what will move the needle is a laser focus on user experience. Why would someone click that link in the SERP? Why would they read your content, buy your product, etc? What problem does it solve? Are you speaking their language such that they feel a connection to you?
To me, code and keyword rich content are secondary to user experience (UX). Google has said this repeatedly. They want you to have a useful site (quality, diverse content), a fast site (quick loading, void of useless bloat), a responsive/mobile friendly site (AMP where it makes sense only, publications, etc), recommendations (links, mentions, proof from reputable sources that your site has value), and it’s safe (HTTPS). Follow those SEO tips you read on the SEO sites ONLY after you’ve run them through the “how will this affect the UX of our site?” test!

I suggest starting with the website, the technical side of SEO. If you do not have your website technically (SEO) sound then any “SEO” efforts will be mostly in vain. If you are not sure about how to get your website technically sound, then I suggest hiring someone that does a technical SEO Audit.
Once you can get your website technically sound, then it is up to you to create the kind of content that is going to drive traffic. What are the questions being asked in your industry? What are people asking your sales reps? What are they asking of your customer service reps? What are people on answer sites asking about (in regards) to your industry?

To capture attention and drive traffic to your website from this visual search engine, create graphics for each of your blog posts or resource pages that will look good and perform well on the platform. Canva offers beautiful Pinterest-friendly graphic templates that make it easy.
#49. Sam McRoberts – VUDU Marketing
It depends a lot on what sort of shape your site is in SEO-wise. If you have a fairly well established site with a solid ranking foundation, you can usually see a ton of benefit from optimizing things like page load speed and mobile usability, and from eliminating crawl errors and trimming back on old underperforming content.
If your site is newer, then of course focusing on getting key on-page, keyword-centric elements right and attracting relevant, quality links would be the most critical first tips.
If you ever want to know how best to optimize your site for a specific keyword, just go search that keyword on Google and poke through the first 3 search results. Google will show you exactly what they consider relevant for that keyword :)

The absolute foolproof tips to drive SEO traffic is to write content that users are seeking. Keyword tools are great at helping to determine which keywords to prioritize, but they are secondary to first building out content that there is demand for.
Therefore, my first tip in any SEO project is to ideate on topics using methods that suggest the broadest topics possible. I typically start with a straight Google search for my parent keyword and dig into the suggested keywords, the “people also ask,” the related queries, and continue to do
amithe same for all of the keywords I find. Only then do I have a better understanding of the search landscape so I can then start keyword research and outlining content.

1. Write Guest Posts on high traffic blogs in your prospects niche. You need to write a spectacular article and then prospects “usually” will look further at the author or links in the blog.
2. I work a lot in Local SEO and the biggest driver of website traffic is the Google My Business listing. To rank this listing you need good backlinks to your Google Maps listing. Not as easy to get but I have tested this and works like a charm.
3. If you are writing your own articles to rank make sure you are going after keywords you can actually rank and get traffic for. Go to kwfinder.com and see who the competition is on the first page. If they are extremely competitive look at the long tail keywords associated with it and work on those instead.
4. Want traffic within a couple days then go over to Quuu Promote and submit your article or guest post and you should start seeing traffic in a couple days. Helps with SEO as well.

My top SEO tips are to make sure that you have a well structured and technically sound website.
This means that it loads quickly, you have well organised sitemaps, proper canonicalisation in place, an excellent information architecture with internal links to all your key pages and doesn’t have a bunch of 404 errors or 301 redirect chains.
To achieve this you can use a crawler such as Site Bulb, Deep Crawl or my personal favourite Screaming Frog’s SEO Spider to find basic SEO errors on your site and check that your top pages have lots of internal links with relevant anchor text.
The next SEO tip I will say is make sure you are regularly monitoring Googlebot’s behaviour – it’s always somewhat surprising to see where your crawl budget is being wasted. Googlebot is a degenerate; it will do weird things if you leave it up to Google to decide what to do – just like leaving a 2 year old in a room unsupervised with a Sharpie. Log File Analysis is a great way to check which pages are being crawled, how frequently and if there are any errors that is encountering which you didn’t find in your crawls.

My number one SEO tip to drive traffic is to take some time and focus on your technical SEO. I think most of us would agree, content quality and length plays a huge part, but if your site or content isn’t optimized correctly you’re only going to get so much reach out of it. I’m referring to things such as:
– Ensuring you have correct schema markup setup on your site (blog type, reviews and stars, etc).
– Optimizing for rich snippets and actually using a tool to monitor if you are gaining new ones. I use Accuranker for this.
– Making sure your website loads fast! I always include this as part of technical SEO as a slow website will always rank lower. Mobile speed is now a separate ranking factor in 2018 as well.
– Checking and cleaning up any 404 errors and broken links.
– Naming your image files smart. Be descriptive about the image, but keep it short.
– Monitor your crawl rate in Google Search Console.
– Take a deep dive once in a while into your backlink profile. Disavow bad links and keep things cleaned up.
And of course all the other basic optimizations such as title tags, headers, sitemap, etc. are also very important.
Another tip is to A/B test your titles and meta descriptions. Both of these can greatly impact your CTR, which can in turn affect your SEO. CTR is so under appreciated I feel by a lot of people. Increasing CTR can do wonders for your content, rankings, etc.
Social signals. This is something that is probably a little controversial when it comes to SEO. However, I have seen it happen a hundred times. Something goes viral on social media, and the keyword rankings for a post immediately jump to the front page of Google.
Whether this has to do with the sudden traffic itself, or signals from social, I have no doubt that social media directly influences organic rankings. I have the data to prove it! In 2018, I think it’s very important to ensure your SEO and social media strategy are working in unison to get the best results.

Hence, SEO for content going forward is all about context. It’s about relevance. It’s about diving deep into a topic and leading your readers far beneath the surface information.
Not just any content, though – “relevant, well-structured content”:
Of course, this is nothing new.
However, you can expect to see this continue to grow in importance in the year ahead.
The need for high-quality content that nets consistent web traffic and a strong online site presence is going nowhere.

So the first answer is that the best “seo tips” for driving traffic are to do proper keyword research. SEO for the sake of SEO isn’t going to do anything. What you need is to make sure you’re targeting the correct keywords. This means keywords that are relevant to your site (because otherwise what’s the point of the traffic?), are not super impossible to rank for, and have decent traffic volume.
The second answer is that you need to make sure you have good onpage SEO, because without it, that keyword research you did isn’t going to be worth anything. 1: Set up a page for your business on the top directories
Directories are websites like Yelp, Angies list, the BBB and your local chamber of commerce. Search engines reference local directories to verify location details. These are often referred to as citations. Citations are mentions of your business name and address online, even if those outside websites don’t link to you.
– Set up a page for your business on popular Local Business Directories.
– If location-specific, set up a page for your business on the Top Local Citation Sources by Country.
– Set up a page for your business on the Best Local Citations by Category.
2: If location-specific, create a Google+ Local Listing page
Create a Google My Business Page, which is like a Google+ page for local businesses. This will help tie your website to a specific location, which Google uses in its search results.
- If your business is in a single location, link to your homepage.
- If your business has multiple locations, link to dedicated location pages for each (ie – yourwebsite.com/calgary).
- If you don’t have a physical location, you cannot register as a local business.
TIP: Embed a map (or map image) into your contact page as another sign to visitors and Google where exactly you are located.
3: Build relationships (social networking)
While it takes some time, building relationships is one of the most effective SEO tips to keep your company top-of-mind for people who might be interested in linking to your site or connecting with you.
Engage with the people on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc who you’re monitoring. Follow them, retweet them, respond to them, reach out to them, or network with them!
If someone has mentioned you but not linked to you, look for an opportunity to politely ask them for a link – give them a reason (politely!)
Make connections at local meet-ups, events, conferences and in your day-to-day activities.
Officially partner with companies in related industries.
Make use of your preferred Social Monitoring tool or set up social monitoring (HubSpot, Hootsuite, Slack, etc…).
Create separate monitoring streams for your business, your content, and your target keywords (think long-tail).
TIP: Be a good neighbour by linking to others. This helps them gain a link as well as improves your chances of getting recognized and linked back to in the future.
4: Find authoritative sites and industry leaders and engage with them
Not all links are created equal. Make sure that you’re earning high-quality links, and not focusing on quantity. High-quality links come from authoritative and relevant websites.
Open your preferred Page Performance SEO tool (MOZ, Positionly, HREFS, HubSpot, SEMRush…).
View the websites who are linking to you.
– Filter by Authority and make a list of the most authoritative sites.
– Filter by your competitors to see which sites are linking to them.
– Make sure you’ve added your competitors to the monitoring.
– Make a list of industry thought leaders (this can include thought leaders in related industries too!).
– Look through your Chamber of Commerce website for potential allies and competitors.
– Search for industry conferences, certifications, agencies, laws, publications, etc.
– Find the top bloggers for your industry.
TIP: Looking at top contributors to industry websites and magazines is a great way to spot thought leaders.
5. Create a “best-of” list or a resources list. Give credit to sources and authors.
– Conduct an interview with an industry thought leader and publish it as a blog post.
– Create crowdsourced content. (Example: http://kyak.mobi/2EN1Q1a)
– Solicit information, answers or opinions on a particular topic from industry thought leaders.
– Keep track of who responded and who did not for future use.
– Ask an industry thought leader to write the foreword for an eBook. Or simply ask them for a quotation.
TIP: Not only might these thought leaders help you write your content, but they’ll typically help you promote it! You’ll gain new visitors and a new link to your content.
6: Blog consistently and frequently (think quality)

Assign someone to write the post, and choose the topic of the blog post. If you maintain a steady blog with quality content, people will naturally link to your articles. We recommend blogging 1-2x per week. It’s a great way to keep your site and your message fresh. (Don’t be self- promotional)
TIP: Keeping each blog targeted on a signle topic and specific will make it easier to follow for your readers as well as create stronger SEO value.
7: Be the first one to cover the news on a topic related to what you do
Search engines love to see fresh content. Be the first one (or one of the first) to blog about the news, and you’ll have the potential to be on the top of searches on the topic! Set up a Google Alert to follow the news of your industry.
TIP: If you’re not one of the first to write about the news, you can still analyze the news or do a recap of it.
8: Include external links in your blog posts
Include one relevant link per article to useful outside content, especially content from industry thought leaders. While people may leave your site, they’ll also remember you provided them with the good info. Be sure to link text that contains relevant keywords (in a phrase) that you’d like to rank for.

9: Create strong visual content
Infographics, videos and interesting image. If you can create a visually appealing, informative, data-driven infographic, and get it in front of enough people, it can go far. Use tools such as slideshare.com to publish infographics and slide presentations.
TIP: Videos are a valuable addition to your content. How-to’s, demonstrations, and even well made company promotional videos can attract interesting links and return visits.
10: Optimize for social media and SEO
Include social sharing buttons on your blog posts. If your blog does not have sharing tools, add them. Include a link to your website on your social tools and in the profiles. Encourage readers to share the post to their personal social networks. This will help you get new visitors to your blog, and will also help in increasing the number of links to your website.
TIP: Social sharing buttons should be at the top of the blog post. This will encourage more visitors to share the content as many people share based on headline or image, regardless if they read the whole article.
11: Set up an RSS feed for your blog
An RSS feed provides a simple summary of your blog posts for readers that is constantly updating. If your customers have a “RSS Reader” installed in their browser they can receive updates to your blog by subscribing (clicking the RSS icon on your blog). If you don’t have an RSS feed, add it.
TIP: We strongly recommend choosing a full text RSS feed instead of a snippet RSS feed so readers can view the full article.
12: Promote your content in social and use it in sales meetings
Share your content with industry thought leaders and those you’ve formed relationships with. Promote your content in social media. Write your message and include a link to your content.
Including an image in the post can dramatically improve its success on social media – because people are visual creatures. We like the bling.
Schedule out a couple of additional messagesyou can publish over a few days to promote your content on social, making sure to change the language each time.
Don’t stop at just one tweet, but don’t spam either. Social is meant to be sociable, not broadcasting. Include a “Click to Tweet” link or button in your emails and in content if possible. And join the conversation on websites such as inbound.org and quora.com.
TIP: Don’t just share the link, introduce it.
13: Engage on other people’s content
Spend time reading articles and blogs written by industry leaders, SEO competitors, news sources and industry journals. If you have something intelligent to add to what they have to say, leave a comment. The best comments add to the conversation and show other readers and people leaving comments that you have valuable information to share.
If the blog or article’s comment section allows you to post a link to your website along with your name or email, use it – but make sure you link to a relevant content page on your website instead of your homepage. And always use your real name when commenting.
TIP: Don’t just drop in a link in without joining the conversation! If you “link-drop”, most platforms will give you the boot.
14: Do some PR (get in the news)
Do outreach to journalists when you have news or a big piece of content. Write a press release about interesting company news. Publish it to your website (not on your blog – if you have several – set up a separate blog just for press releases) and send it to news sources.
If you can, do a joint press release with another company. Throw an event, like a meet-up, a dinner, a lunch-n-learn, etc. Invite local thought leaders and journalists.
TIP: Put the time and effort into building relationships with journalists and news companies, your focus can result in major media coverage and exposure. Get a sense of what so “news worthy”
TIP: Note: Press releases are considered advertising content. As such, it is unlikely to rank without serious support in the form of sharing and engagement. Seriously!
15: Write guest blog posts (a series is better than a single)
Look for quality sites to guest blog for. You should know the site well and be able to vouch for their legitimacy. Those relationships you’ve built will go a long way here. Include links in the text (as hyperlinked words) that direct readers back to your pages. Partner with another blog to trade writing guest posts. You’ll both get the benefit of reaching a new audience and sending links back to your website.
TIP: When looking for a site to guest blog for, weed out sites that have too many blog posts (they might be spammy or low-quality) and sites that never have guest blog posts (they probably won’t accept your offer of a guest post, so don’t waste your time). And the biggest tell of all, no engagement = no fun.
TIP: There’s a fine line between mutually contributing and swapping blogs with other businesses. Avoid swapping blog posts as it’s considered black hat SEO that may affect your Google rankings. best practice to simply contribute for the content and knowledge sharing andlet SEO come naturally.

And finally the last tip, for step 3, reach out to influencers and build backlinks to your content. In short, validate that your content is worth ranking in search engines, and Google with reward you with high ranks.

First SEO tip is you have to get the foundations right and that means understanding the search intent of your target audience. Simple keyword research isn’t enough, you need to understand why people search to build mental models for key landing pages, then create content aligned with those mental models. That gives you far better reach for semantic search, as the content will tackle different user intents.
You also need to align copy with natural language search patterns, as voice search is increasing and this is changing the nature of search queries with longer queries.
To extend content reach, social outreach to identify influencers can work wonders. However, everyone is doing it so you have to create a compelling proposition for target influencers (and find the right influencers) to provide something of value. One example is creating unique content for another website that is aligned with their audience interests and your core proposition, which can link back to key landing pages.
To capture a wider audience, don’t just target conversion search queries. Work out the research stages that lead to a conversion or goal completion. Then create useful content to help people with their research e.g. how to guides, Q&A etc. You’ll find you’ll rank for a wide range of low volume research keywords, that individually won’t set the world on fire but collectively can represent a significant volume opportunity.

The two biggest changes SEO pros will face this year are Google’s move to mobile-first indexing, and increased use of voice search.
To address mobile-first indexing, make sure your site looks great (e.g., avoid big unbroken blocks of text), works well (i.e., is easy to navigate on a small screen) and loads fast on mobile devices.
Optimizing for voice search is a little trickier because Google doesn’t yet break out voice queries separately in Search Console. But at the very least, optimize content for longer search queries and questions (think FAQ-like content).
And for consumer businesses, use rich snippets and make sure your site is optimized for local search queries.

First, start with the basic SEO tips — make sure your site:
• Loads fast
• Is mobile responsive
• Has AMP set up
• Doesn’t have tons of H1s all over your content
• Has links throughout your content to your most important pages
• Has a usable menu
• Has a clear and easy-to-understand contact page
• Has schema where applicable
Then, produce useful, valuable content (regularly — as in once a week at least) that’s going to attract visitors.
Keyword research is probably a good idea — sure, you can produce awesome content that will rank and attract visitors, but it’s better to know what people are searching for in the first place.
That content can be audio, text, video, but whatever it is, make it awesome, make it informative, and don’t be skimpy: 300 word blog posts probably aren’t going to suffice, especially if they just barely scratch the surface of whatever you’re discussing.
Final SEO tip, think about what you’re going to DO with that traffic. Is your goal to build an email list, to generate leads and nurture them? Or is it to make sales directly on your website? Or do you simply want the traffic for traffic’s sake, to get people on your site, to get them viewing/clicking ads? Or do you simply want people to use that contact form? Create a traffic plan that includes end-goals for the traffic. Traffic for traffic’s sake is meaningless.

Build relevant links. Don’t just build links from places that are irrelevant to your target audience. Find out where your readers and customers hang out and contribute. This could be a forum, social media or various other sites. You’ll slowly build direct referral traffic and as your target market get to know you they will start talking. This will gradually build real organic links which over time will compound and rankings will only improve. Focus should be on SEO quality and relevance over quantity.

SEO in 2018 is a whole different animal from what we saw only a brief 5 years ago. While there are hundreds, if not thousands, of factors to align, here are the most important:
1. Optimize for mobile and performance – mobile is over half of search today, and load times on mobile can be slower than on desktop for the same website. Users won’t wait for a slow site to load, since there are ample options for similar content on the web. These two are absolutely non-negotiable in 2018.
2. Create a content creation engine – search engines love living, breathing websites that provide a steady flow of content to index and rank. Static five page websites just don’t perform like they once did without a huge PR push or some other lucky coverage in major media. If you want organic traffic, you’ll need ongoing fresh content.
3. Answer questions that real users ask – semantic SEO is the real deal, and the best way to position yourself for success in 2018 is to provide answers to real questions. Structure it right and mark it up semantically as well, and you just might land a “position zero” placement (which also didn’t exist a few short years ago).
4. Don’t forget about off-page / links – I’ve seen estimates that off page represents between 35% and 60% of SEO. Whatever the right number is, you need to be building links to your content if you want to outrank others, because they’re doing it.
I could go on and on about other details, but if you get these four things right, you’ll see increases in traffic over the next 6-12 months without fail.

Understand your own (and your sites) limitations. If you are a new dentist for example in Phoenix, and you have a brand new website, chances are you aren’t going to be ranking in the top 3 for a term as competitive as ‘Phoenix Dentist’.

Online retailers should review their apps and platform extensions, especially for ecommerce platforms that rely on app marketplaces for core functionality. Eliminate apps and scripts that don’t contribute significantly to user experience or ROI.

Link out heavily to other players in your niche (as long as they are not direct competitors) and send them tweets and emails saying they’re featured, post your article in relevant Facebook groups, promote it on Quora answers, steal your competitors’ backlinks using outreach.
The magic of SEO is the compounding effect you get when every page on your site has a decent amount of backlinks. By building links to one article, you’re not only helping that rank, but other pages on your site as well.
Come up with a content creation schedule that you can sustain both in terms of quality of content and the marketing efforts needed.
