Sacramento, CA – Oct. 27, 2012 – Shane Barker, a media sponsor for the Cereal Hack 2 competition, announced that Intel is the mega sponsor for this year’s event that features a grand prize of $2,000. The two-day hackathon is the premiere app development contest and will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 and Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. A grand prize of $2,000 will be awarded to the winner and Barker is seeking participation from entrepreneurs, coders, designers, biz devs and hardware hackers.

The competition begins at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 and ends at 2 p.m. on Nov. 11. It will be hosted at the new Hacker Lab headquarters in the heart of Midtown. Competitions have been added this year for hardware and maker hacking, with proceeds going to the non-profit organization, Hacker Lab, to support its mission of providing users with the most innovative, cool and fun tech available.

Cereal Hack 2 features a top-flight array of judges that includes Genentech senior regional manager, Steve Hansen; Sacramento Press and Adglue founder, Ben Illfeld, who is also the media sponsor for the event; Tropo product manager, Adam Kalsey; and Minnick Web Services founder, Chris Minnick. Entries will be judged on their completeness, design, originality, user interface, and humor when appropriate. Judges will be seeking projects with a wow factor.

Creative teams are composed of one to five humans and contestants need not worry if they haven’t already formed a group. Cereal Hack representatives can assist entrants locate others at the event in need of a team. Each team has 24 hours to develop a Web or mobile app built in any coding language. The app can encompass anything from development tools to a consumer application, but it has to be new and fresh.

Hacker Lab 2 is the premiere competition for coders, hackers, developers and dreamers, providing them with a forum to display their talents, demonstrate their expertise and collaborate with like-minded individuals. The Sacramento event offers biz devs, entrepreneurs and hardware hackers with an outlet for their genius and the opportunity to realize their vision with apps that have the potential to change the world.
